Wedding Dress Lace Edge Trim Problems After Dry Cleaning
I was recently asked to prepare a technical report for a client in Perth, WA, whose wedding dress had been dry cleaned after her wedding. The wedding dress had lace on the bodice and most of the edges of the lace had become discoloured by turning a light brown colour. The wedding dress manufacturer had used a fabric sealant product on the lace edging to prevent fraying called Fray Stop, we believe. This product had then reacted to the correct dry cleaning process used on the dress and this had caused the lace edges to discolour. This was actually the second dress from this same manufacturer, which had been seen by TCS Textile Consultancy Services, that had reacted to recommended dry cleaning in this way. In the first case, the client was able to negotiate a mutually agreeable settlement with the wedding dress manufacturer which involved replacing the lace. It is expected that the second client will be able to resolve her dispute in a similar way using the technical report prepared by TCS Textile Consultancy Services.
